Tierrasanta Real Estate and Homes:
Tucked amid the tawny mesas of outlying San Diego, the “island in the hills” community of Tierrasanta is nearly picture-perfect—and residents plan to keep it that way. Once part of a thriving 19th-century mission in proximity to Mexico, the Spanish-translated “holy land” was later built up as Camp Elliott. The camp was home to and training grounds for thousands of sailors and marine personnel and was annexed into San Diego in 1960. The population of Tierrasanta today makes up less than five percent of San Diego’s 1.25 million total inhabitants.
